I stayed in Denmark for 3 months last year (with 2 stops in Germany) from August-November 2021. I was doing an erasmus internship as a followup of my Composition studies. It was very adventurous to live in a new city after being ‘stuck’ in Iceland for almost 2 years and to meet so many new people, although I admit that I was mainly hanging out with the Icelandic mafia. I played one concert at the concert venue Klub Primi, where I was doing my internship and tricked some of my Icelandic friends who are studying in Copenhagen (DKDM) to play the concert with me. We played 5-6 songs and had a great time.
Shortly afterwards we got the opportunity through Tom Leader, an exchange student in the Tonmeister-program, to record some of the songs we performed in a very beautiful DKDM studio. These songs we arranged together, each performer putting in a bit of their own improvisation and character to the songs. They were recorded live, we took 3-4 takes of every song and then chose the best take. There are 4 brand new songs that I have never released before, that I plan to release later, in more finalised versions. Some songs have gibberish lyrics, but I think these versions are very pure and capture the mood and I care deeply about them.
This album is very important to me, since I haven’t been releasing too much since covid started. I have been dealing with self-doubt and fighting my perfectionism. Also the whole covid situation killed many of my dreams. So now I am extremely happy to throw this beautiful mess into the world. Enjoy!
